Having a clean desk

Having a clean desk is considered by some to be next to godliness. Sure, it seems a bit obsessive compulsive for everything to live in one spot in the office, but frankly, that’s the point. This month, rebel tackles items for the desk that keep things clean, neat, and tidy — just how we like it. BookArc TwelveSouth | $50 Sure, that Apple MacBook Pro looks good open on the desk, but it could look even better when paired with a mammoth monitor and a wireless keyboard. The BookArc holds a MacBook Pro vertically, so that power, USB, and network connections can be plugged in while the laptop is used with an external monitor in closed mode. This not only makes it easier to take the computer off the desk, but also hides the cords in the background as well. It’s convenience, cool design, and function, all in one package. Fork & Cream Sauce Lufdesign | $17 Alright, we admit it: there’s always going to be some cords on the desk that can’t be removed. In that case, it helps to have a handy way to make them pretty, and keep that OCD aesthetic alive. This Fork pulls out of the plastic cream sauce base, and makes it easy to wrap a USB cable around and through its tines. Then the fork is stuck back in the base, and everything is nice and orderly. Better yet, for every set purchased, Lufdesign provides one meal for children in hunger through the Save The Children campaign. Cool looks and giving back? Doesn’t get much better than that. Performance MX Logitech | $100 Part of having a nicely organized desktop is using a wireless system. For those that prefer the feel of a traditional mouse, give the Performance MX a shot. Not only does it feel amazing in the hand, but it also has more buttons than the space shuttle, allowing for tons of combinations. The scroll wheel also has two different options, making it smoother to scroll with just a flick of a button. Plus, the Darkfield technology allows the mouse to function on any surface, including glass tables. Sounds like a perfect fit for that neat-freak look. @Rest iPad Stand Heckler Design | $59 Docks are friends to the OCD inflicted, so it makes sense that everyone’s current favorite tablet should have a home as well. This super spiffy model by Heckler Design combines the clean aesthetic of the iPad with an optional solid mounting position. This way, your fancy iPad can sit in a cool looking dock that’s mounted to your desk at a 90-degree angle to the edge. Or you can just bring it with you wherever you need it — you know, if you’re not that compulsive. Apple Wireless Keyboard Apple | $69 You don’t have to be an Apple to enjoy the freedom of the Apple Wireless Keyboard. The short-throw keys make the chore of typing seem almost carefree, and the Bluetooth technology makes it easy to pair with any Mac or PC, and even your iPhone or IPad. Although it’s a full-size keyboard, it still takes up just a small fraction of the desktop. Not too shabby.
